John attended St. Rose grade school, Perrysburg High School, the now Owens College, and Bowling Green State University. In 1967 John was inducted into the United States Army and was stationed at Fort JacksonS.C., Fort Gordon in Augusta Ga. and I-Corps in Korea during the Pueblo Crises, as Trick Chief of the I-Corps Communication Center.
Returning home in March of 1969, John started employment at Bowling Green State University as a Programmer/Analyst. In 1971 John left Bowling Green State University’s and was hired by the University of Toledo, where he was in charge of designing, writing and the implementation of the Universities Computer Payroll and Financial Systems.
John left the University of Toledo in 1975 to follow his dream of having his own business. He and his wife Sue started Zenko’s Olde World Deli in Perry’s Landing and then purchased the old Rhinefrank Hospital on Front Street, converting it into Zenko’s River House.
After closing his business in1988, John took a position with the Andersons as a manager at the Franklin Park store. While still working at the Andersons, John was elected Clerk of Perrysburg Township, a part-time position, in the fall of 1999. In April of 2003 John was hired as full-time Administrator for Perrysburg Township, the position he holds today.
